Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) é uma organização americana de MMA (Mixed martial arts ou Full Contact NHB). Lutadores desse esporte usam diferentes modalidades como jiu jitsu, boxe, wrestling, muay thai, karate, e muitas outras artes marciais. O UFC é comandado pela Zuffa Entertainment, LLC, e presidida pelo americano Dana White.

Origem:
Os primeiros eventos eram torneios de 5 ou 16 homens promovidos pela organização de entretenimento Grupo Semaphore (SEG) em associação com a WOW Promotions (liderada por Art Davie e Rorion Gracie), onde os lutadores tinham que ganhar 3 lutas para se sagrarem o campeão do UFC. O primeiro evento foi realizado em 1993.
O UFC começou como o primeiro evento renomado de vale tudo em 1993. Com o intuito de descobrir o melhor lutador do mundo, não importava o estilo de artes marciais que ele praticava, inspirado no Vale Tudo brasileiro. Por possuir praticamente nenhuma regra (por exemplo, no primeiro UFC não era permitido apenas morder ou colocar os dedos nos olhos do oponente), o UFC era conhecido como No holds barred fighting (vale tudo ao pé da letra) e as lutas eram ocasionalmente violentas e brutais. Os primeiros UFC’s eram menos esporte do que espetáculo, o que levou a acusações de brutalidade e “briga de galo humana”.
Desde sua primeira edição, os eventos ocorrem em “octagons”. Uma espécie de ringue com oito lados, fechados com uma grade.
O primeiro campeão do UFC foi Royce Gracie no UFC 1 em 1993.
